Chisinau History Museum - Water Tower

The Water Tower or Water Castle, as it is also called by some historians, is a monument of industrial architecture, built at the end of the XIXth century after a project of the architect Alexander Bernardazzi.

Description

With this construction began the water pipe in the city. After a time, the water tower was transformed into a Fire Tower for firefighters because from here there can be seen the 7 hills. It is currently the Chisinau History Museum, which has only exhibits related to the social life of Chisinau inhabitants, as well as projects of the architects of that time. Exhibitions of paintings, photographs, openings, and even concerts are organized on the top level of the water castle.

Heritage:

  • The water tower hosts the exhibition „History of the city”, the exhibits of which date from the interval of the XVth-XXth centuries, it is a heritage of approximately 26 thousand exhibits.

  • Free entry

    Pensioners, adults with disabilities, children from residential institutions, preschoolers, for all visitors on the last Friday of the month.

  • Guide in Romanian and Russian (up to 30 people):

    • pupils and students - 30 MDL
    • adults - 50 MDL
    • children from residential institutions and military – free of charge. 
  • Filming in museum halls (one day)

    • Documentary movie - 300 MDL
    • Popularization movie - 150 MDL
    • Artistic movie - 400 MDL
    • For an advertising spot that is not related to the museum's activity - 400 MDL.
