Sangerei Ethnographic Museum

The museum is based on memorial components, with an educational function, a large part of the project is focused on the local community and aims to involve children and young people in the city. 

The employees of the museum have created an authentic urban space for leisure and socializing, with a square, outdoor film screenings. It has a rich photo-documentary exhibition „War after war. Anti-Soviet military resistance in Lithuania 1944-1953”, as well as an exhibition of publications dedicated to the atrocities of the Holocaust, genocide and extermination of the Jewish nation and other ethnic groups such as Roma, Sinti.

Heritage: 

• You will find in the museum a stand with fragments of pottery, part of the Cucuteni-Tripoli culture, found during the archeological excavations. The Sangerei area was at the center of the famous Cucuteni Tripoli archeological culture (Vth-IIIrd millennia BC (Before Christ)), a culture that belonged to the oldest European farmers and animal breeders, who possessed a technology for producing ceramics that impresses with its ornaments. 

• A carpet with traditional symbols from the 19th century, a valuable piece of the museum.
